KFAED reaffirms willingness to discuss vital projects with Sudan
Director-General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) Abdulwahab Al-Bader reiterated the Fund's readiness to discuss significant development projects with Sudan's government in forthcoming period.
Al-Bader made his statement via a videoconferencing while heading Kuwait's delegation at the Second Friends of Sudan Conference, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
KFAED continues to hold talks with the Sudanese finance ministry regarding postponement of due and late payment installments as part of the Debt Service Suspension Initiative, endorsed by World Bank Group and G20, he noted.
Furthermore, Al-Bader noted KFAED has previously signed a special agreement on financial arrangements under the framework of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Initiative.
Meanwhile, the conferees held open and frank discussions on best ways to coordinate support and action with the Sudanese transitional government.
They also discussed ways to reach comprehensive and sustainable peace, as well as achieving economic stability and prosperity during such a critical period in Sudan's history.
The conference's final communique stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with the Sudanese government in order to achieve the economic objectives as agreed upon by the participants.
It also called the government's partners to continue their support and contribute to implementing much more effective economic reformations in the country.
The Sudanese transitional government hopes the event provides it with further support to face the challenging economic situations in the country, and achieve economic stability.
It is worth mentioning that Sudan received financial assistance pledges worth USD 1.8 billion from participating countries of the previous edition of Friends of Sudan Conference, which was organized by Germany's government.
