Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding for the Utilization of a Grant in Aid to contribute the aid and relief of the Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in the Kuwait Fund Headquarters in Kuwait, between the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, whereby the Kuwait Fund will provide a grant in the amount of US$ 1 million to contribute to the aid and relief of the Rohingya refugees in the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It is worth mentioning that in extending its loans and developmental assistance, Kuwait Fund depends exclusively on its own resources.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of Kuwait Red Crescent Society by His Excellency Mr. Hilal Mussaed Al-Sayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society was signed on behalf of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by Mr. Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Bader, Director-General of the Fund.
The grant aims at contributing to the financing of emergency needs required for the aid and relief of the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh through the financing of essential facilities and materials required to be provided for aid and relief of the Rohingya refugees, including logistic services, in addition to health and relief operations and providing them with drugs and mobile clinics, as well as logistic services. The services to be financed from the Grant will be available on exclusive basis to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, who are suffering from shortage in basic human needs such as food, drugs and shelter, as a result of the recent crises and violence which caused the destruction of life in the areas inhabited by them and forced them out to cross the border to Bangladesh.
