| Project Objectives | The project aims to support economic and social development in the central and western regions of the Tigray region by meeting the demand for drinking water for the residents of Axum City, Axum University and the neighboring rural areas |

| Project Description | The project mainly consists of the construction of a stone dam on the Maichiu Canal. The site of the dam will also be the site of a water treatment plant that will be built with its own pumping station, generator room, and treated water tanks. The project will also include a line for transporting treated water to the city of Axum, and the line will depend on two pumping stations, each of which includes generators and electrical transformers, and there will be public taps installed on the main transmission line for the benefit of neighboring cities. The main line will connect two water reservoirs to be built in Axum, which will feed the city's water network. Finally, the project will include the construction of a new water distribution network for the city |
