A Grant Agreement was signed today in Kuwait, between the Carter Center and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, whereby the Kuwait Fund will provide a Fourth Grant in an amount of US$ 1 million to further assist in financing the Carter Center within the framework of the Guinea Worm Eradication Program. It is worth mentioning that the Fund is a Kuwaiti Public Corporation, which relies entirely on its own resources for making loans, and providing other kinds of development assistance.

                        The Grant Agreement was signed and witnessed on behalf of the Carter Center by Mr. Curtis Kohlhaas, Chief Development Officer at the Carter Center and was signed on behalf of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by Mr. Abdulwahab Al-Bader, Director-General of the Fund. 

                        The grant aims, as stipulated in the First Grant Agreement, at assisting in financing the Carter Center International Guinea Worm eradication campaign, to interrupt Guinea Worm disease transmission and bring cases to zero.

                        Kuwait Fund has been committed to support the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in previous periods providing an earlier grant of one million and two hundred fifty thousand U.S. Dollars ($1,250,000).
