Kuwait Fund takes part in inaugurating medical center in Mongolia
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) participated in the inauguration ceremony of the National Burn Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics in Mongolia, held under the auspices and presence of Mongolia Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.
Kuwait Fund's Acting Deputy Director-General Eman Al-Abdulrazzaq represented the Fund at the ceremony, which also saw the attendance of Kuwaiti Ambassador in Mongolia Mohammad Al-Mutairi alongside various ministers, officials, and other notable Mongolian figures.
In her address at the event, Al-Abdulrazzaq said the medical center "constitutes a significant advancement in enhancing healthcare services within Mongolia. The center, established via an USD 8 million-worth grant by Kuwait, signed in 2006 and administered by Kuwait Fund, covers all aspects of construction, civil works, and installation of the most up-to-date necessary medical equipment."
"This investment ensures the provision of high-quality care for patients, including specialized care for burn patients and advanced treatment options for individuals suffering from bone trauma," she added.
For his part, Oyun-Erdene indicated, in his speech at the ceremony, that the newly inaugurated center provides high-quality medical services and capabilities for performing complex surgical operations.
The Mongolian premier affirmed that "such a development will contribute to reducing the mortality rate from burns and decreasing the necessity for citizens to travel abroad for costly treatments, alleviating an economic burden on the Mongolian populace."
Furthermore, he extended, on his and the Mongolian government's behalf, "profound gratitude to the Kuwaiti government and Kuwait Fund for their invaluable contributions to the extensive development projects within Mongolia's health sector."
"Their relentless efforts have been instrumental in protecting the health of the Mongolian people, enhancing the provision of advanced medical care for various injuries and conditions, and improving the overall quality and accessibility of healthcare services. I extend my best wishes of health and prosperity to all involved," said Oyun-Erdene.
The project is primarily financed through a grant from the State of Kuwait and administrated by the Kuwait Fund.
The inauguration of the medical center in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, represents a strategic step towards bolstering the healthcare capacity of the country.
The center aims to increase the capacity of the healthcare system in Mongolia by offering an integrated and specialized suite of medical services, focused primarily on the treatment of burns and fractures, along with rehabilitation services for up to 250 patients.
It's noteworthy that the partnership between Kuwait Fund and Mongolia been extensive, with a record of four loans worth approximately KD 23.7 million Kuwaiti directed towards the energy and transportation sectors.
This partnership also includes the State of Kuwait's grant dedicated to the financing of both the National Burn Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics and the Undurkhaan Airport project.
The repaid loan amounts have reached around KD 18.7 million, representing about 78% of the total loan value.
