As part of 13th edition of KFAED’s “Be Among the Outstanding” program Students visit Kuwait Fund-financed projects in Tunisia, Vietnam
Participating male students of “Be Among the Oustanding” program have visited several historical and cultural attractions in Tunisia, in addition to a number of Kuwait Fund-financed projects in the Arab republic as part of the 13th trip organized by the Fund for high-school students, in cooperation of the Ministry of Education.
During the trip, the students explored the old city of Carthage and visited Al-Zaytuna Mosque, where they prayed as well. The next day, they visited Kasbah Square and saw the national monument. They also visited many popular markets and tasted the infamous Tunisian sweets.
For his part, Zaid, student, expressed his admiration of the country and said “Tunisia enjoys a spectacular blend of beauty and dazzling nature in a way that exceeds all expectations”. He added the city is distinguished by its old architectural heritage, especially Al-Zaytouna Mosque, which represents the ancient Tunisian civilization.
The students also visited the gas compressor station in the town of Zaghouan, which the Fund contributes to financing by 100 percent. The station serves over 10,000 Tunisian families by transferring 50 percent of gas in Tunisia to remote areas.
In the same context, Belqasem Awlad Ahmad, the project manager, stated the project consists of two gas compressor stations, and some 314-kilometer-long gas pipelines to transfer gas from and to northern Tunisia, in addition to gas transfer stations, gas compression stations, and stations that supply gas to remote areas in Bizerte Province, Ariana Province, and Manouba Province.
Ahmad expected that over 15,000 families will benefit from the project, adding that the gas compressor station in Zriba town represents about 50 percent of the components of the Tunisian electricity and gas network, and the needs for gas in northern Tunisia particularly.
Furthermore, Ali Al-Aradah, student, mentioned “we visited the Fund-financed gas compressor station and learned about the importance of gas, as well as the process of filtering gas from impurities, which is a huge process that goes through several stages”.
The students ended their day by visiting the tourist town of Yasmine Hammamet, an attractive area that is famous for its beauty and magical atmosphere.
On the other hand, the program’s participating female students have visited several heritage and entertainment attractions in the Republic of Vietnam. They also visited many sites of development projects that Kuwait Fund contributes to their financing.
They toured the city of Ninh Binh in northern Vietnam, distinguished by its scenic landscapes of mountains, forests, and archaeological landmarks, in addition to many temples. The students spent most of the trip time on boats on Trang An River, roaming around caves that had hanging salts inside of them.
For her part, Al-Zahraa Hasan, student, expressed her joy of this experience, saying “the boat roamed us around Vietnam’s natural landscapes that exceeded the imagination by their beauty”. Afterwards, the students toured the city and kept some memorabilia gifts.
Moreover, the female students paid a visit to Kuwait Fund-financed multipurpose rural development project in Da Bac's Distract of Hoa Binh Province, where the project’s vice-manager Mr. Dao Trang Dat was at their reception and explained the project and its positive impacts on the province’s residents.
Trang Dat also mentioned the project consists of several key components, most notably elementary and middle school, in Da Bac’s District of Hoa Binh Province, that has 25 classrooms and accommodates 400 male/female students, in addition to an internal rural road paved with concrete.
Mr. Trang Dat stressed the importance of that road in facilitating transportation for the province’s residents. “The road was devoid of concrete as rising dust made transportation difficult for the governorate’s residents," he said, expressing the Vietnamese people’s profound appreciation and gratitude for Kuwait Fund’s development contributions to their country.
For her part, Shejoun Al-Enezi, student, said “this trip instilled within us the love for philanthropy, and I’m so proud of Kuwait Fund’s accomplishments and its development contributions to world nations. I’m also proud of the fact that Kuwait has left a humanitarian mark in Vietnam”.
It is worth mentioning that delegations of male and female students joining the “Be Among the Outstanding” program, organized annually by Kuwait Fund for high-school students, kicked off this year its 13th edition to Tunisia and Vietnam, and will continue until the 26th of this month.
Some 12 outstanding male and female students from the 11th grade are chosen, in coordination with the Education Ministry, for a week-long trip to two countries, in which the Fund contributes to financing their development projects. The trip is made during the spring break.
During the trip, the students learn about the most prominent projects that Kuwait has contributed to their development around the world.
