Kuwait Fund hosts visiting Saudi military delegation

Kuwait Fund for Development hosted at its headquarters today a visiting military delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia representing the Saudi National Defense University.

The event is part of continued cooperation among local authorities and institutions, the Fund said in a statement, adding it also aimed at introducing the Saudi delegation to the nature of the Fund’s work during their educational tour to Kuwait.

During the visit, Dr. Naser Al-Rifai, Economic Advisor at the Kuwait Fund, gave an introductory presentation on the Fund’s activities, highlighting its accomplishments since its foundation, in addition to the nature of its work and operations that mirrored Kuwait’s foreign policy, which is based on development and humanitarian aid on regional and international levels.

Dr. Al-Rifai also delivered an explanatory speech about the Fund’s work policies in financing development projects in developing nations, in addition to the procedures followed when submitting a loan application by the Fund-recipient countries.

For his part, the head of the delegation, Naval Brigadier-General Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Amri, expressed his happiness with this visit, which aims to discover Kuwait's development capabilities by learning about the nature of the Fund's work, its noble goals, and its policies followed in financing development projects and its developmental and humanitarian activities that extend to all parts of the world.

Naval Brigadier-General Al-Amri added: "This developmental and humanitarian activity carried out by the Fund and its counterparts reflects on our work as military personnel when implementing humanitarian civil operations such as peacekeeping, stability, and relief in the aftermath of natural disasters and crises. This represents the integration between development bodies and military bodies and enhances joint work, planning, and acquiring experiences to support humanitarian operations, which have now become a crucial part of military duties."

He also expressed his deep appreciation for the role played by the State of Kuwait, represented by the Kuwait Fund for Development, as the main arm of Kuwait's foreign policy in assisting developing countries around the world, which embodies Kuwait's values of giving without discrimination and its humanitarian activities around the world, especially the Kuwait Fund's activities in infrastructure and sustainability projects.

It is worth noting that the Kuwait Fund for Development was the first institution in the Middle East to play an active role in international development efforts, through its financing of development projects in developing countries and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Kuwait Fund today constitutes a solid bridge of friendship and solidarity between the State of Kuwait and brotherly and friendly countries.
