Signing of A Grant Agreement in the Amount of USD 2,500,000 In Support of The Occupied Palestinian Territory Humanitarian Fund for the Years 2024 – 2025
A Grant Agreement was signed today between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), whereby the Kuwait Fund will provide a Grant in the amount of USD 2.5 Million in support of the Occupied Palestinian Territory Humanitarian Fund (OPT HF) for the Years 2024-2025.
The Grant Agreement was signed on behalf of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by Mr Waleed Sh. Al-Bahar, Acting Director General of the Fund and on behalf of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs by Mrs. Lisa Doughten, Director of the Financing and Partnerships Division.
The Occupied Palestinian Territory Humanitarian Fund aims to support several sectors in Gaza by continuing to provide fuel supplies in order to maintain the operationality of essential services, including (1) immediate medical supplies for health sector facilities in Gaza, (2) emergency medical services, (3) temporary shelters and distribution of non-food items, (4) the provision of potable water and sanitation services and general hygiene, and (5) immediate food assistance and livelihood support.
This Grant is the third contribution of its kind between the two institutions in the field of humanitarian support, as Kuwait Fund has already concluded a Grant Agreement of USD 100,000 on 25/09/2017 in support of the Fight Against Famine in Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan and Nigeria and a Grant Agreement of USD 2,000,000on 07/02/2022 in support of the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF) for the Years 2022-2023.
