Signature of a Grant Agreement of USD 2 Million to Contribute to the Treatment of Syrian Refugees Children with Cancer in the Lebanese Republic
The Kuwait Fund concluded on 30/09/2024 a fifth Grant Agreement with the Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon (CCCL), whereby the Fund would provide a grant amounting to USD 2.0 Million to Contribute to the Treatment of Syrian Refugees Children with Cancer in the Lebanese Republic.
The Grant Agreement was signed on behalf of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by Mr. Waleed Sh. Al-Bahar, Acting Director General, and on behalf of the Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon by Mr. Joseph Asseily, Chairman of the Executive Board and Board of Trustees.
The Grant aims to provide medical care for Syrian Refugee children with cancer in the Lebanese Republic by financing treatment services including diagnosing children patients, conducting laboratory tests, radiological imaging and biopsy analysis, in addition to covering the costs of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medications, bone marrow transplant, as well as covering specialized surgical operations to remove cancerous tumors and providing palliative treatments and urgent intervention.
This is the fifth contribution of its kind between the two institutions in the field of humanitarian support within the framework of the State of Kuwait efforts to improve living conditions and provide humanitarian aid to Syrian Refugees and the host communities, as the Fund had previously provided to the Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon four grants amounting to USD 6.0 Million to contribute to the treatment of Syrian Refugees with cancer in the Lebanese Republic.
